Japhet Tanganga’s agent refuses to rule out summer transfer for in-form Tottenham defender

Japhet Tanganga’s agent, Roberto De Fanti, has admitted his client has received several loan offers this summer and has refused to rule out the possibility of the defender leaving Tottenham before the end of the transfer window.

The defender put in a man of the match performance in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Manchester City on the opening weekend of the Premier League but in spite of that, he is still being linked with a move away from the club.

To add to the speculation, as per tuttomercato, De Fanti said that Spurs do not wish to sell him in the long-term, but there is still time to secure a loan move in the market.

“We have received many proposals for the dry loan because Tottenham firmly believes in the player and does not want to grant a ransom," he said.

“The market is constantly evolving, already two years ago it had to be sent on loan and then Mourinho made it one of the pivots of his defence before Covid arrived.

“There are other days before the market closes, we will see what happens: it comes from a great recognition, that is man of the match on the occasion of the last match."

Meanwhile, while answering questions in the post-match press conference after Tanganga’s heroics against City, Espirito Santo said: "I think [Japhet Tanganga and Oliver Skipp] did well.

“When we started the season they were in the process of recovering from injury but they worked hard on their fitness with their sports science.

“All the team was great today but Japhet was huge. He faced so many one on ones."

He was then subsequently left out of the starting XI for Spurs’ trip to Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday night, suggesting that he could be selected in the right-back position for the game against Wolves on Sunday.

If that is the case, it certainly looks as though Espirito Santo wants to keep him at the club long-term.
