Japanese, Thai artists join forces for BKK printmaking show

Twelve artists from Japan and Thailand are showcasing their printmaking works during the "12AP Thai And Japanese Printmaking Collaborative Exhibition", which is running at ARRA Gallery, until Aug 31.

The exhibition is a one-of-a-kind, awe-inspiring, cross-national collaboration between Analog Studio in Sendai of Japan and Pineapple Print Press in Bangkok, with the aim of hyping up the "printmaking community" in Japan and Thailand, and pursue the international art market.

Standing for Artist Proof, AP is an impression of a print taken in the printmaking process worked on by the artist. The abbreviation is used in connection with limited edition prints. The prints are limited as the artist only releases a specific number of prints.

The number of copies are shown on the print itself. With artists' prints, these are a necessary part of the production process where proofs are taken until the artist is happy with the print and ready to have it shown in a gallery or museum.

The exhibition brings 22 etching prints and silk-screen prints by artists from the two countries. They include Freak, Hongtae, Lolay, Nev3r, Pod Art, Y?, Hamadaraka, Hanautah, Jun.Kaneko, Sadam and Syunoven.

ARRA Gallery is on Sukhumvit 71 and opens Wednesday to Monday from 11am to 6pm.

There is no admission fee. Visit facebook.com/theARRAGallery or call 062-636-1561.
