Marugoto Nippon, a shopping center that showcases a variety of regional specialty foods from all over Japan, has been renovated and reopens to the public on Friday. The revamped facility was unveiled to the press on Wednesday.
The shopping center located in the Tokyo Rakutenchi Asakusa Building in the Asakusa district of Tokyo sells about 2,500 products, including sake, seasonings and noodles, shipped from various regions in Japan under the theme of "enriching our daily lives through good Japanese products."
In particular, a wide selection of sake products are available, including an array of rare sake from around the country. This is thanks in part to sake connoisseurs among the staff, who previously worked as brewers at sake breweries, using their experience and personal connections to source products and make purchases.
There is even a tasting corner where customers can taste and compare carefully selected sake. This service, however, is suspended during the state of emergency.
"We hope that many people will be reminded that there are so many wonderful products in Japan," the center's manager said with a smile.
