Japanese man runs kite-making workshops as New Year approaches

With the approach of the traditional kite-flying season for the New Year, real estate broker and kite enthusiast Ichiro Kabakura displays kites painted with the character for "boar," next year's animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. For the past 30 years or so, Kabakura, 70, who lives and works in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, has been holding kite-making workshops, teaching almost 3,000 children every year. This winter, he will hold workshops in 10 elementary schools in Edogawa Ward.
