The Gift of Life Foundation and Sala Sudasiri Sobha is holding a piano recital concert tilted "An Afternoon A La Française" by Tetsu Mashiko and Makasi Nishihara on Sunday, 4pm, at Sala Sudasiri Sobha on Lat Phrao 41 Road.

The Japanese piano duo, Mashiko and Nishihara, are back in Thailand with a recital that will present French classical music ranging from baroque and romantic to contemporary with works by both lesser-known composers as well as well-known ones.

The piano sensations' portfolio includes a world premiere performance of Tailleferre's posthumous work Choral Et Variations.

Their appearance in Thailand concludes the month of love as they delight the audience with the famous Wedding March by Charles-Marie Widor.

The duo formed their partnership in 2001. They have performed music of various composers since then. Both have already presented over 150 concerts in Japan alone.

Four years ago, much of their work focused on French compositions. This year their attention has been on Russian music, much of which inspired by Russian folktales written by legendary Russian composers such as Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Arensky and others.

Mashiko, who was born in 1976, graduated from Utsunomiya University in Japan. Then he went to Manchester to study accompaniment at the Royal Northern College of Music and graduated in PGDip and PPRNCM.

Meanwhile Nishihara, who was born in 1972, graduated from Sophia University in Japan majoring in legal studies. He has studied piano privately with legends Noriko Misima and Daisuke Kato. He has also written compositions for several famous classical piano recitals which have been published in Japan.

Tickets are priced at 700 baht, inclusive of reception after the concert.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards The Gift of Life Foundation to help patients with blood-disease conditions in Thailand.
