Japanese-inspired retailer Kenji to open three concept stores in the North this month, creating 60 jobs

Kenji, which offers Japanese-inspired homewares, kitchenware, stationery and accessories, has announced it will open three concept stores in the North of England this month.

A 3,000sq ft flagship store in the Manchester Arndale shopping centre will be its second concept store to open, creating 20 new jobs.

Manchester-based retailer will also launch sites in Liverpool One and Meadowhall Sheffield, which will see a further 20 jobs created in each site.

The business also announced its aim to open 200 retail stores in the UK by 2025.

The retailer currently has four sites, in Warrington, Preston, Bury and Manchester.

KENJI’s head of operation Derek Yong said: “KENJI aims to disrupt the way retail is traditionally experienced by curating an immersive retail space, allowing customers to explore not just the products but the story behind it, and bring back the excitement to shopping which was once the defining feature of the high street.”

Their new concept will features a food hall, mini arcade and in-house KENJI Kafé, to ecourage “seamless brand experience and social media sharing”, it said.

Kenji also said the store will facilitate ‘community-based hubs’ with retail space for local curated makers, which will refresh every two weeks.
