Japanese akita to be destroyed after severely injuring man in Kilmarnock attack

A court has ordered the destruction of a Kilmarnock man’s dog after it caused another man severe injuries.

The Japanese akita will be put down after its owner Gordon Gibb pleaded guilty to a dangerous dog offence at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Gibb, of St Maurs Crescent, Altonhill admitted owning a dog which was dangerously out of control and bit a man on Kilmaurs Road in November 2017.

Gibb, 53, was fined £100 by Sheriff Jamieson after the court heard the victim of the attack sustained severe injuries.

Sheriff Jamieson also orderd the dog to be destroyed.
