SHIRAHAMA, Wakayama -- Elephants can be viewed from a workstation at the Adventure World theme park in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture.

The workstation is located in the theme park's Safari World area and was setup in part because Shirahama has been gaining attention as a "workation," or teleworking from resorts, hotspot amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The 4.5 square-meter workstation is equipped with a table, chairs, free WiFi and a power supply for computers and devices. Up to three people can use the space at the same time and enjoy the tranquil view of elephants shuffling about.

The workstation is the brainchild of students enrolled at the University of Shiga Prefecture. Its bamboo roof and pillars were made from about 60 trees that were discarded by the park's popular giant pandas. As there are no walls, it cannot be used on rainy days.

It is open from 10:30 am. to 3:30 p.m. It is free to use without reservation.

"Bring your family and work while your children play," a park official said. "Or go see the pandas and other animals when you get tired of working."
