Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi held telephone talks with Australian counterpart, Marise Payne, on Friday to discuss AUKUS, a trilateral security partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Payne explained about the launch of the trilateral partnership, in which the three nations will seek to ensure the security of the Indo-Pacific region, with an eye on China.
Motegi replied, "Japan welcomes the creation of AUKUS, which tries to strengthen the three countries' commitments to the region."
