Women's speed skater Miho Takagi and men's speed skater Tatsuya Shinhama each won the sprint title at the ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Hamar, Norway, on Saturday.
Takagi is the second Japanese woman to take home the sprint gold at the worlds after Nao Kodaira was the champion in 2017 and 2019.
At the 2018 world championships, Takagi won the allround title in which skaters compete in four events over short and long distance, making her the first Japanese to win both the sprint and allround titles.
