GANGNEUNG -- The Japanese women's curling team easily beat the Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) team 10-5 on Saturday in the round-robin stage at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
The Japan team has now improved to 4-1, while OAR is at 1-4. Japan is ranked sixth in the world, and Russia is third.
Japan broke a tie by adding one point in the sixth end, and skip Satsuki Fujisawa stole another three with an excellent shot in the seventh end, which Japan played first. Their opponents conceded after Japan added two more points in the ninth end.
"My teammates made a string of steady shots, so I just confidently threw the stone. I didn't feel any pressure," Fujisawa said.
