SALT LAKE CITY -- Japan won the women's team pursuit in a world-record time of 2 minutes, 50.76 seconds at the two-day ISU World Single Distances Speedskating Championships on Friday in Salt Lake City.

Japan went into the race with the same group that skated at the Pyeongchang Olympics -- led by Miho Takagi, Nana Takagi and Ayano Sato -- and set the national record in 2:50.87 in 2017.

In the women's 500 meters, Pyeongchang gold medalist Nao Kodaira took the top spot in 36.69 seconds.
