Teen midfielder Takefusa Kubo, who holds the record for youngest goal-scorer in J.League history, will move from FC Tokyo to Yokohama F Marinos on loan until Dec. 31, the two teams, both in the league's first division, announced Thursday.

In the current season, the 17-year-old has appeared in four matches for FC Tokyo but scored in none.

Kubo had belonged to the youth team of prestigious Spanish club FC Barcelona. Returning to Japan in 2015, he joined in FC Tokyo's youth team.

In April 2017, Kubo scored a goal for FC Tokyo's Under-23 team, which competes in the J.League's third division, becoming the youngest player to score in J.League history at 15 years, 10 months and 11 days of age. He played in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in that year, and is seen as a candidate for the national team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

"I've made this decision because I thought I need a new challenge to develop myself further," Kubo said via his club. "I'll do my best to make myself more competitive."
