The Japan Football Association canceled an international soccer friendly between the Japan and Chile national teams in Sapporo, due to the major quake that hit Hokkaido, the JFA said Thursday.

The match was scheduled to kick off Friday night at Sapporo Dome.

The Samurai Blue players who have been staying in Sapporo canceled their official training session and a press conference, both slated for Thursday evening. Instead, they plan to go through a light workout around their accommodations, the JFA said.

When the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in 2011, the JFA also canceled two matches by the Japanese national team that had been scheduled for late March that year.
