
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga turned 72 on Sunday and he did not do his daily routine of taking a walk, having meetings in a hotel and having meals with others.
In the morning, he spent time in a public dormitory for Diet members, then in the afternoon he went to the dentist.
Later, Suga held a meeting with senior officials of the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry in his office at one of the office buildings for Diet members, where he likely received explanations about matters such as the novel coronavirus infection situation.
The extraordinary Diet session, the first for Suga after becoming prime minister, had just ended on Saturday. With this week's duties in mind, Suga perhaps sought to minimize the schedule on his birthday.
