The Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that it will establish a new division that exclusively deals with issues related to North Korea, effective on July 1. Through the reorganization, the ministry aims to reinforce its efforts to realize North Korea's denuclearization and settle the abduction issue.
The ministry is restructuring the Northeast Asia Division of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, which takes charge of Korean Peninsula affairs, into two divisions.
