Japan's foreign minister protests China's maritime intrusions

Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi lodged a protest against China for repeatedly sending its government ships into Japanese territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture and its maritime research vessels into the contiguous zone for the 107th straight day Wednesday.

Motegi strongly pressed China to deal with the issue during a phone call with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Wednesday.

Motegi also conveyed concerns about the situation in Hong Kong, where China imposed a new national security law that has come into effect.
