Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi is considering visiting three African nations in December, including the Indian Ocean island nation of Mauritius, it has been learned.
A bulk carrier chartered by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. ran aground on the coast of Mauritius in July, spilling heavy oil. Motegi is expected to meet with Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth to discuss Japan's support for dealing with the spill.
Motegi also plans to visit Tunisia and South Africa to discuss such matters as measures regarding the novel coronavirus.
