Japan's COVID-19 czar: Areas subject to suspension of Go To Travel campaign to be named soon

Areas in Japan that will become subject to the Go To Travel campaign being suspended will be decided soon, the minister in charge of measures against the novel coronavirus said during an appearance on an NHK TV program Sunday.

"We will determine a direction in the next few days and respond to the situation in cooperation with governors of prefectures where the spread has increased," said Yasutoshi Nishimura, who is also the minister in charge of economic revitalization.

Prefectural governors have been given discretion to decide whether to suspend the tourism promotion campaign. The central government intends to make a final decision.
