Japan raised its travel advisory to the second-highest level that urges people not to travel to 14 countries including Russia, where the infection of the new coronavirus has spread, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said Friday.
The government intends to soon add these countries to the list of countries subject to entry denials.
Besides Russia, the European countries for which the four-stage travel advisory has been raised to Level 3 are Ukraine and Belarus.
Middle Eastern and African countries subject to the alert are Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Djibouti.
As for Central and South America, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Christopher and Nevis, and Barbados have been listed.
The new additions brought the total number of countries and regions subject to a Level 3 alert to 87, including the United States, China and South Korea. The ministry has issued Level 2 advisories, which call for voluntary restraint on unnecessary and nonurgent travel for all remaining countries and regions.
