A group of 51 newspaper publishers in Japan have agreed to establish a new company later this month that will create a website containing news and regional information. The site, which is scheduled to be up and running by the end of the year, will carry domestic and overseas news, information on tourism and local cuisine, as well as advertisements. Akishige Tada, president of the Nishinippon newspaper company, said: "We will try to present a new business model for the newspaper industry." (Via Japan Times)
