DUBAI -- The Japan Pavilion of Expo 2020 Dubai held a press viewing on Sunday, ahead of the Oct. 1 opening of the world exposition in United Arab Emirates. The showcase will introduce Japanese culture to visitors by making full use of advanced technology.
Expo 2020 Dubai aims to attract 25 million visitors in the six months through March next year, making it one of the world's largest events to be held amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The exposition was scheduled to open in October last year, but was postponed due to the pandemic.
The theme of the Japan Pavilion is "Where ideas meet," and the centerpiece will be computer graphics displays of Japanese traditions, technology, culture and food. Major conveyor belt sushi operator Sushiro will open a special restaurant at the site.
An exhibition space promoting the 2025 World Exposition to be held in Osaka will serve as a base to attract pavilions to that event.
The Japan Pavilion has always been popular at past world expositions.
Special measures will be implemented to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. The pavilion's capacity will be halved from the previous limit. Also, in addition to regular ventilation, visitors' locations will be checked, and people will be asked to avoid crowded conditions.
