Lawmakers in Japan have passed major reforms in the country's sex crime legislation. The new laws define non-consensual sex as rape, removing the requirement that the victim had to be forcibly coerced into the act for it to constitute a crime. The legislation also raises the age of consent for the first time in over a century, from 13 to 16. We take a closer look.
Meanwhile in Pakistan, transgender people call themselves Khawaja Siras. The so-called "third gender" has been legally recognised in Pakistan since 2018. Finally, one of the world's most endangered animals, the Siberian tiger, has been spotted in the Greater Hinggan Mountains in north-eastern China. The rare animals were thought to have disappeared from the area completely, but wildlife researchers have finally obtained photographic evidence that the big cats have returned.
