The government is aiming to continue holding close talks with the United States and other countries over the exemption of eight importers, including Japan, from U.S. sanctions on purchases of crude oil from Iran, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday.
"The Japanese and U.S. governments have been holding close talks, and we asked for considerations so that Japanese companies' activities will not be negatively impacted," Suga said at a morning briefing. "From now on, we will also closely discuss this issue with countries concerned."
