Japan grabs 45 gold medals as Asian Para Games conclude

JAKARTA -- Japan won 45 gold medals at the Asian Para Games 2018, an eight-day international sporting event for para-athletes that ended Saturday with the closing ceremony in Jakarta.

Hangzhou, China, will host the next Asian Para Games in 2022.

At this year's event, which featured sports, Japanese para-athletes won 45 gold medals, exceeding the 38 Japan earned at the previous Asian Para Games in Incheon, South Korea. Japan's overall medal haul was 198, including 70 silver and 83 bronze medals, up 55 medals from the previous games.

Japan finished forth in the medal standings behind China, South Korea and Iran.
