Two days of widespread flooding and landslides in north-east Japan have forced more than 90,000 residents to abandon their homes.
The Kinugawa River burst through a flood barrier on Wednesday, sending a tsunami-like wave into Joso, about 30 miles northeast of Japan's capital Tokyo, coming on the heels of Tropical Storm Etau.
The heavy rain and waist-high floods in some areas left residents stranded and waving for help from their roofs and balconies as rescue workers used helicopters to take them back to safety

One resident is seen being rescued from a balcony by a worker, who was attached to a helicopter.
According to local press, more than a dozen people were injured.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued special warnings for Tochigi and Ibaraki districts, north of Tokyo, urging vigilance against mudslides and flooding.
Parts of Tochigi have seen almost 60 centimetres (2 feet) of rain since Monday evening.
