Japanese flautist Tomomi Kurita will give a Bangkok debut recital at Sala Sudasiri Sobha on Lat Phrao 41 on Sunday at 4pm.
Presented by the Gift of Life Foundation, the concert will see the award-winning musician perform Mozart's Andante In C Major, K 315 and Rondo In D Major, K 184; Faure's Fantaisie Op 79; Poulence's Sonata For Flute & Piano as well as Muramatsu's Earth, with a piano accompaniment by celebrated Japanese pianist Tetsu Mashiko.
A group of her outstanding flute students, called Amitie Flute Ensemble, will also join her in a programme of Doppler's Duettino Americain, Op 37; Kuhlau's Flute Trio In G Minor, Op 13 No.2; selections from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite; as well as Four Seasons In My Hometown, a medley of Japanese children's songs.
Tomomi started playing flute at the age of 10. After graduating from Utsunomiya University, she moved to France where she completed École Normale de Musique de Paris with a first-class honours degree, and also completed ENM d'Aulnaysous-Bois with Prix d'Excellence.
She has performed with orchestras, provided music for a musical dictionary and TV/Radio programmes and taken the role of a judge at many competitions. Two years ago, she had a duo recital with her master Patrick Gallois at the sub hall of Tochigi Cultural Centre and appeared at the Taipei flute festival 2016. In March this year, she collaborated with members of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets cost 700 baht including a reception after the show. Proceeds will go to the Gift of Life Foundation and Chulalongkorn University's Bone Marrow Transplant Club.
