Regarding the report that China passed its national security legislation for Hong Kong, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said at a news conference on Tuesday, "It is regrettable that the legislation was passed regardless of the strong concern shown by the international community and the citizens of Hong Kong."
"Such a move would undermine the credibility of the 'one country, two systems' principle, and [we] will continue to appropriately address the issue with the countries involved," he added.
