Japan Airlines will now tell you the location of babies on planes

Sometimes sitting on a long-haul flight with screaming children can be a real pain.

It's can be worse if the child is a baby who just doesn't seem to stop crying.

Well, Japan Airlines has introduced a new way to let passengers know that they are sitting next to a baby.

The new icon lets "other passengers know if a child may be sitting there".

But the company has said the idea was not perfect as it only works if passengers make the bookings through their website.

You can now avoid screaming babies while flying (Japan Airlines)

The decision to do this has split social media users in two.

Some people have praised the decision by Japan Airlines, thanking them for the warning.

One person said on Twitter: “Thank you, @JAL_Official_jp for warnings me about where babies plan to scream and yell during a 13 hour trip”.

Another user wrote: "Hmmm I think this is great. I mean no offense to anyone with children, but it’s your money and if you can have choices and options why not?".

But others hit back at the decision, arguing for more tolerance for other passengers.

One Twitter user said: "Oh come on, babies aren’t that bad. They can’t help themselves. Imagine how stressful it must be for the babies, barely able to communicate their needs; and the tired parents".

Another wrote: " This is depressing. The people who disturb me (drinkers, those who are get up numerous times on a night flight and wake you to move for them, snoring men, those with wonky headphones) are people. Annoying but I deal with it. Babies are babies. Deal with it".
