January assignment: Photographing achievement and inspiration on film
Milo and Mihran. They 'aspire' to become great musicians (they are already very good) and I hope to 'achieve' a good set of photos with only three 12-exposure films, and a camera I've never used beforePhotograph: Graham Turner for the GuardianPlaying musical instruments at home. All of these images were captured with flashPhotograph: Graham Turner for the GuardianA double exposure outside. One difference between film and digital is film has grainPhotograph: Graham Turner for the Guardian
Playing the ukulele. These photos are shown full frame, with only some basic photoshop. You can see vignetting (dark corners), fogging (the red blobs on the edge), a very soft lens and unrealistic coloursPhotograph: Graham Turner for the GuardianI don't mind the vignetting, but personally I would have preferred a sharper imagePhotograph: Graham Turner for the GuardianThe flash is fixed on the camera and there is a choice of aperture - or rather a small hole for sunny, and a slightly larger one for cloudyPhotograph: Graham Turner for the Guardian
