Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev LIVE: Wimbledon 2026 result and latest updates from men's final

Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev LIVE

Jannik Sinner fought off a full-blooded challenge from Alexander Zverev to successfully defend his Wimbledon title. Fresh from finally winning a first Grand Slam crown at the French Open last month, Zverev shrugged off a woeful recent record against Sinner to claim the first set.

But, after wilting in the heat in Paris, Sinner stamped his authority firmly back on men’s tennis by battling to a 6-7 (7) 7-6 (2) 6-3 6-4 victory and a fifth major crown. It was also a 100th grand slam match win for the world number one, who earned royal approval from the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George and Princess Charlotte in the front row of the Royal Box.

After losing nine matches in a row and 14 sets against the Italian, Zverev knew he had to do something different and his intention was clear from the start as he secured a second consecutive crown at the All England Club.

As for the No2 seed, he has also not had things his own way.

He surprisingly dropped a set against Alexander Blockx in his first round, before more routine wins over Valentin Royer and Marcos Giron.

He was pegged back by 13th seed Jiri Lehecka in a fourth-round encounter that stretched over two days, but he got the job done against the Czech.

He then ousted sixth seed Taylor Fritz in straight sets before dispatching of Fery to reach a maiden Wimbledon final.

How did the world No1 get here?

Well, he was handed a real scare in the first round against Miomir Kecmanovic, who took him to five sets, but since then, it has been pretty plain sailing.

He hasn’t dropped a set, and has breezed past Nuno Borges, Jenson Brooksby, Shintaro Mochizuki, Jan-Lennard Struff and Novak Djokovic to reach a second consecutive Wimbledon final.
