Janey Godley says she is cancer free as Scottish comedian posts emotional health update

Scottish comedian Janey Godley has shared the emotional and exciting news that she is finally 'cancer free'.

After facing what has been a health battle that everyone fears, Janey has taken to Twitter to post a video announcing her news and has also thanked NHS nurses and doctors who "saved her life". Janey was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the end of 2021 and since conducting bouts of chemotherapy, she has taken friends, family members and fans with her on her health journey, posting regular updates on social media.

After recently realising that Twitter was home to some 'great people', Janey thanked everyone who has so far left a positive message or interacted with her health updates. Now, just weeks after a possible scare and being told to remain in hospital after a blood transfusion, Janey has shared the emotional news with her followers.

Starting off the video while very emotional, Janey said: "Hello everybody. I've just had a phone call from the cancer specialist and the scan has come back clear. There is no evidence of disease and so after a hysterectomy and six rounds of chemo and a blood transfusion, it seems that the NHS has definitely saved my life.

"I want to thank everybody at the beats cancer care and everybody within the NHS who looked after me, especially my wee pal Shirley who looked after me when I came out of the hysterectomy. It's been quite an emotional day but I'm not on tablets that I take daily in hope that it stops the cancer from returning, but as it stands, the scan is clear, so I want to thank everybody that has supported me, sent me love and sent me so much strength.

"Also to everybody who knitted me hats and sent me hats as well, my cup is absolutely full of gratefulness, thank you so much everybody."

Janey's tweet has gained almost 30,000 likes in a matter of hours, with hundreds of people leaving messages of support and expressing their happiness regarding the recent news. Janey herself added another tweet later on saying that she had walked two miles and was rewarding herself with an Aperol spritz.
