Janey Godley reveals she will find out 'next steps' tomorrow after ovarian cancer diagnosis

Janey Godley has given her fans an update on her cancer journey as she reveals she will find out the next steps tomorrow.

The 60-year-old comedian last week announced she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and urged anyone with symptoms to have themselves checked out.

Godley, who gained fans during lockdown for her humours voice-overs of Nicola Sturgeon's Government briefings, said she is swaying between being terrified and screaming in anger' in anticipation of what lies ahead.

Posting on Instagram, she wrote: "Tomorrow I get told the next step on my “reluctant journey of ovarian cancer”

She joked: "Totally sounds like a bad musical play at the fringe, the family are slowly recovering from Covid - and I am swaying between being terrified and screaming in anger - Honey is enjoying the attention."

Fans have been quick to send Janey messages of support.

One said: "It's ok to be both angry and terrified. Accept help where you can...trust science and us NHS professionals here in Glasgow."

Another added: "Sending you much love Janey."

While one said: "Loads of love Janey!! I hope life stops being so hard for you very soon."

And one wrote: "Take it one step at a time and cross everything as you come to it. Thinking of you and sending love."

The Glasgow-born comic previously asked fans to spread 'light and love' and keep her social media feeds positive.

Her request came after she was subjected to cruel trolling online shortly after revealing her diagnosis.

On Twitter she said yesterday: "RIGHT that’s the negative nellies dealt with- let’s keep this place full of light and love."

The star shared multiple pictures and videos from her hospital bed in the last week as she received treatment but admitted she has done nothing but 'cry and cry and cry' since finding out the news.

Sharing a video from her hospital bed last Friday she said: "I want to thank everyone for all their support and all their help and for coming out and sharing so much laughter with me.

"Onto the next step of the journey, and what is that journey?

"I don't know if I'm going to be one of these people who battle bravely and fight every step.

"I don't know, that doesn't feel how I've been the last day where I've done nothing but cry and cry and cry.

"But I'm going to use science, and technology and I'm going to try and cope with this next step of my journey."
