Janey Godley had to move train seats after speaking to woman who read her book

Janey Godley has admitted she had to move carriage on a train from Glasgow to Newcastle after she spoke to a woman who was reading her book.

Janey who has written the bestselling Handstands In The Dark about her tough childhood in the East End before embarking on comedy said the woman was 'furious' after she tried to speak to her about her reading material.

The comedian who has gone viral during lockdown with her voiceovers of Nicola Sturgeon's briefings admitted she had to hide until she reached her stop.

She said: "Sat on a train to the Stand Newcastle, and a woman was reading my autobiography.

"I jokingly said 'Oh I’ve read that, she dies at the end' thinking she’d know it was me (WHY WOULD SHE?) and laugh.

"She looked at me and said 'well F*** you' and glared at me. I moved into the next carriage"

Janey added: "I wanted to go back and explain but she was furious at me and I just hid until my stop."

"I am dead to her now. I think I really upset her - I just felt if I went back I would annoy her more and sound like a d**k saying 'actually wrote the book, am not dead”"

Janey also wrote Frank, Get The Door! Ma Feet Are Killing Me featuring her voiceovers from The First Minister's Covid 19 briefings.
