Jane Seymour 'traumatised' after third husband's debt which left her with nothing

Jane Seymour was left "devastated" after she claimed her third husband mismanaged her Hollywood income, resulting in her having to give away all material items and seek a new acting role.

The actress, 72, is known for her iconic role as Dr Michaela Quinn in the hit 1990s series Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman, but has admitted she took the role out of desperation.

Her third husband David Flynn also became her business manager after their marriage in 1981.

The couple welcomed two children Katherine, 41, and Sean, 37, but their happy life came to a halt when Jane is believed to have suddenly discovered their detrimental financial position.

Jane has claimed David mismanaged her money, but she never thought to check in on her finances because she trusted him as “one of the top professionals in the financial industry”, as well as her husband and father of her children.

“It was devastating because I was put into a financial situation that I had no idea of," Jane told The Times.

“He had invested it in properties and things I knew nothing about, all of which he got me to personally sign."

Jane claims the debts made her give away all of her material items, adding: “I didn’t own anything. Lawsuits from every major bank and nine million in debt, which I didn't know anything about.

"I was traumatised and just did what I had to do, which was figure out how I was going to earn some money to pay back what he'd lost."

Jane went to her agent to find a way out of the situation.

She was offered a role in a seemed to be doomed series, but the actress didn't have the option to be picky.

In the end, her role as Dr Michaela Quinn has since become one of Jane’s most iconic characters.

Jane and David divorced in 1992, but the actress has claimed they are still close friends today.

The James Bond star went on to marry fellow actor James Keach in 1993 and welcomed two children with him, twins John and Kristopher, 27, before they split in 2015.
