Jane McDonald shares message of hope as she breaks silence after death of partner Ed

Loose Women panellist Jane McDonald shared an emotional message with fans following the death of her partner Eddie Rothe.

Ed passed away in April and the star took to social media to thank fans for their neverending support.

She explained: "I would like to say a huge heartfelt Thank You to everyone who donated to the Wakefield Hospice Just Giving fund in Ed's memory. Your generosity has raised a total of £12,125.38!

"These funds will make a significant difference to the patients and their families at the hospice.

Jane added: "I would also like to say how touched I was at the kind and thoughtful messages left on the Just Giving page. You have all been wonderful! Love Jane x."

Her fans immediately commented on the heartfelt post to add messages of support for the TV presenter.

"Sending you a huge hug," one user commented while another said: "Sorry for your loss".

A fan was in awe the money raised and said: "What a fantastic donation Jane. You are in my thoughts and prayers, much love".

"This is lovely. A piece of joy in a dark time. Hospices are such amazing places and rely so much on the generosity of others. Take care xx," another commented on the post.

The 58-year-old lost her fiancé Ed to cancer several months ago.

And instead of flowers, Jane asked her fans to make donations to Wakefield Hospice instead.

She had tweeted out a link to a JustGiving page in his memory, on which followers can make donations to Wakefield Hospice.

"Further to the sad passing of Ed Rothe," the fund-raising page's description reads, "we have been inundated with very kind offers to send flowers and also give donations to charity in his memory.

"We would very much like to support Wakefield Hospice who did a wonderful job in supporting and looking after both Ed and Jane."

The page adds: "Jane and family would very much appreciate if you could donate instead of sending flowers.

"We have set up this JustGiving page so you can make donations which will go to the hospice."

They first dated when they were teenagers after meeting in a Wakefield nightclub.

They later split, only to get back together after almost 30 years apart, following a chance encounter on the set of This Morning. They announced their engagement in 2008.

Before the sweet couple reunited, Jane tied the knot with engineer Henrik Brixen.

Fans watched their romance blossom on The Cruise, the show that made Jane a star.

However, it wasn't meant to be and the couple ended their marriage in 2003.
