Jana Sena will contest Telangana assembly polls, says Pawan Kalyan

HYDERABAD: Jana Sena Party chief and actor Pawan Kalyan said his party will contest the 2023 assembly elections in Telangana.

Though he did not say as to how many seats the JSP will contest, he said they will certainly influence the electoral fortunes of other parties in Telangana. “I will not be bogged down by an election defeat,” he asserted during his Nalgonda tour on Friday.

“Even now, we have a sizeable vote-bank in each assembly constituency. We do not engage in power politics, but we seek social reforms and qualitative change in society,” he said.

Pawan Kalyan, however, expressed the hope that the Jana Sena flag will fly high in Telangana.

He also said he was never a supporter of hereditary politics. His remarks are significant because his party was planning to form an electoral alliance with the BJP in the 2018 assembly elections but had decided not to contest any way.

Pawan Kalyan’s party, however, is in alliance with the saffron party in Andhra Pradesh and there is a strong speculation that an alliance with the TDP is also being discussed now.

Pawan Kalyan paid a visit to the families of his party’s members who died recently.
