Jan Vertonghen rules out Tottenham exit: 'It's the best club to play for at the moment'

Jan Vertonghen is not looking to leave Tottenham this summer, describing the club as "the best to play for" ahead of the new season.

Spurs confirmed in late 2018 their option to extend the defender's contract for a further year had been triggered, with Vertoghen telling Standard Sport at the time that he was willing to extend beyond next summer.

Amid uncertainty over the futures of Christian Eriksen and fellow Belgian Toby Alderweireld, who both also have 12 months to run on their contracts, Vertonghen is staying put.

"I've got a year left, I will have to see what happens," he told reporters.

"I love being here. I feel great with the manager, he’s been supporting me and making me a better player.

"I’ve got everything I want. It’s the best club to play for at the moment."

Vertonghen is currently in Singapore with the Tottenham squad as they prepare to face Juventus on Sunday before heading to Shanghai to play Manchester United next Thursday.
