Jan Oblak signs new Atletico Madrid deal including huge release clause

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has signed a new long-term deal with the club.

The Slovenian stopper, 26, is enjoying another fine season with Atletico having arrived in 2015.

Oblak has managed 115 clean sheets in 203 matches for the La Liga side, who look set to finish second to Barcelona this term.

Atletico announced on Wednesday that Oblak had put pen to paper on a new deal until 2023.

And any club looking to lure him out of the contract will have to meet his release clause, which stands at a staggering £103m.

"I am very happy to be here," the Atletico goalkeeper said.

"I will always give my best to defend these colors with everything, I will continue to work hard."

Oblak has been linked with Manchester United in the past and speculation is likely to have resurfaced again amid speculation over David de Gea's future.

The Spaniard is back on Real Madrid's radar after failing to agree a new deal, with one year left on his current contract.

United insist they will not have to make a decision on De Gea's future this summer but will be forced to sell him or risk losing him for nothing next year.

Ed Woodward must answer serious questions for Manchester United to ever be great again

De Gea's form has dipped considerably this season and he was at fault again for Lionel Messi's second goal for Barcelona on Tuesday.

Everton's Jordan Pickford is likely to be at the top of United's wishlist if De Gea does go, while a trade for Thibaut Courtois with Real hasn't been ruled out.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to be given £250m to strengthen this summer and a new No.1 is not likely to be on the agenda unless their hand is forced with De Gea.
