Jan Oblak sends Atletico Madrid transfer warning amid Man Utd interest

Jan Oblak has warned Atletico Madrid that he will quit the club if their ambition slips.

Goalkeeper Oblak signed a new contract at the Wanda Metropolitano in April, to extend his stay in Madrid until 2023.

But having seen Antoine Griezmann announce he will leave Atleti this summer and key stars Lucas Hernandez, Diego Godin and Juanfran already depart, Oblak has admitted he won't stick around.

"I signed a new contract, but that does not change anything," Oblak told  Ekipa . "I will stay at Atletico as long as their ambitions match mine.

"And some people might think their ambitions have lowered, as big players have left. I am sure the club will do everything possible to sign quality players. When I signed my new contract they gave me guarantees about the club's ambition.

"They said the aspirations were not going to change."

The news will prick the ears of Manchester United's transfer gurus, with the Red Devils looking for a keeper due to the uncertainty surrounding David de Gea.

De Gea is about to enter the last year of his contract at Old Trafford and has made no intentions to sign a renewal.

United were considering triggering the £106million buy out clause in Oblak's new contract, with Liverpool also said to be weighing in on a move.

Oblak has been at Atleti since the summer of 2014, when he moved from Benfica, and quickly made a name for himself as one of the best shot stoppers in Europe.

Last season, the Slovenian kept 20 clean sheets in 37 La Liga appearances, while only conceding 27 goals.
