Jan Oblak responds to Chelsea transfer speculation as he's tipped to replace Kepa

Chelsea target Jan Oblak refused to rule out a departure from Atletico Madrid when quizzed about his future.

The Slovenian, who is rated as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe, has been linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Current Chelsea No1 Kepa Arrizabalaga made a number of high-profile errors during a season which saw the Blues concede the most goals of any top-half Premier League club.

Manager Frank Lampard dropped the Spaniard for back-up option Willy Caballero towards the end of the campaign and is intent on signing a new shot-stopper this summer.

Oblak has emerged as the west London club's priority target and the 27-year-old responded to speculation about his future before Atletico's Champions League quarter-final tie with RB Leipzig.

"It’s not the time to talk about that, right now we’ve got Leipzig to think about," Oblak - who is contracted until 2023 - told Spanish outlet AS .

"I’ll assess the season when it’s over and hopefully we’ve got three games left. There’ll be time after that to talk."

Last month, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo issued a hands-off warning to Oblak's suitors, claiming the Wanda Metropolitano favourite would be going nowhere.

“For me, Oblak, and I speak as an amateur, is the best goalkeeper in the world,” Cerezo told Marca .

“Regarding [ Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut] Courtois, he is another great goalkeeper of those in the world, and fortunately, both have dressed our shirt, and with both, we have been champions in many trophies.

“I always say that Oblak has a contract with Atletico and is the best goalkeeper in the world. It is not strange that he has offers from other great teams such as Atlético.

“We have many players, our squad is the club’s main asset. Oblak is a magnificent player and in his position, unquestionably, there is no one to beat him right now.”
