Jan Oblak 'ready to quit' Atletico Madrid for Man Utd transfer

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak wants to quit the Spanish club to become David de Gea's replacement at Manchester United , according to a report.

ESPN FC claim that the Slovenian - who was seemingly a United fan in his youth - has become increasingly frustrated at the transfer activity at the Wanda Metropolitano this summer, as he's seen Diego Simeone's side become weaker.

Star forward Antoine Griezmann has announced his intention to leave the club, and is widely expected to join Barcelona .

But Atletico are also losing veteran defenders Diego Godin, Juanfran and Filipe Luis, as well as young talent Lucas Hernandez to German giants Bayern Munich for a club record fee.

Oblak is said to be disappointed with the departures as he feels that they indicate a lack of competitiveness at the club, something which he had been assured against earlier this year when he signed a new deal in the Spanish capital until 2023.

ESPN FC cite a source claiming that Oblak is most disappointed with Atletico's list of potential replacements for Griezmann, and now wants to test himself in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old is also being considered by Paris Saint-Germain as a replacement for the departing Gianluigi Buffon, as is De Gea.

The Spanish international's future at Old Trafford is unclear following a stall in contract talks and a severe drop-off in form towards the end of the season.

A key member of the Atletico side since joining in 2014, Oblak is widely considered to be the best goalkeeper in La Liga, and has just won the Zamora Award for the division's best stopper for a fourth time.
