Jan Blachowicz calls for Jon Jones title fight at UFC 244: I’ve earned it through hard work

There’s a list of top contenders who want a shot at UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and Jan Blachowicz believes he should be at the top of that list.

The normally quiet Blachowicz took to Twitter on Sunday to respectfully express why he believes he’s earned a title shot.

I’m not a Twitter keyboard warrior, don’t have 1mln Insta fans, I don’t drive a sports car with a gold chain around my neck…but I AM one of the TOP guys in my div. and thru my honest & hard work I’VE EARNED a TS. I guarantee you a show worthy of – Here and NOW!

Blachowicz (24-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) is coming off a spectacular second-round knockout of former middleweight champ Luke Rockhold earlier this month at UFC 239 to get back to the win column. Owner of four performance bonuses, the 36-year-old Blachowicz bounced back from a loss to Thiago Santos, who had a valiant effort in a split-decision loss to Jones at UFC 239. Blachowicz has won five of his last six as he makes his claim for a shot at gold.

Blachowicz followed up his Sunday tweet with a Monday post on Instagram, sharing a fan poster that suggests he and Jones (25-1 MMA, 19-1 UFC) should headline UFC 244 in New York. Jones has expressed interest in headlining the Madison Square Garden card on Nov. 2 as he awaits his next challenger.

UFC president Dana White recently said at the UFC 240 post-fight press conference that Corey Anderson, who confronted Jones over the weekend at an autograph signing in New Jersey, will not receive the next title shot despite eagerly calling for it.

That could leave the door open for Blachowicz, who, like Anderson, is one of the few top-ranked light heavyweights yet to get a crack at Jones.
