JAMMU: Jammu Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two fraudsters alongwith duped money amounting to Rs 16.5 lakhs.
Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli sharing details in this regard said that an application was lodged at Police Station Kahna Chak by a person namely Nikhil Prasher of Kathua stating that some unknown fraudsters duped him of his money worth Rs 20 lakhs.
Accordingly a case FIR No 110/2021 under relevant section of law got registered and investigation was started.
“After this special police teams of PS Kahna Chak under the supervision of SDPO Domana Kousheen Koul were constituted.”
SSP Jammu Kohli said, “The team led by SHO PS Kahnachak Inspr Vishav Partap Singh with the help of analysis of CCTV footages of the area finally rounded up two suspects namely
Suresh Kumar, son of Hans Raj a resident of Chakrabhatti Bhalla Doda and Ashish Langer, son of Ajay Langar of Choudhary lane near Upper Roop Nagar.”
Senior police officer said, “On their disclosures during sustained questioning the police team recovered Rs 16.5 lakhs from them.”
He said, “Their modus operandi was to induce the customer to purchase black turmeric (Kaali Haldhi) at high prices.”
“They convinced customers that this ‘Kaali Haldhi’ was a spiritual thing which could generate a huge amount of money in some shortcut way.”
“After convincing the victim, they called him to a deserted place with a huge amount of money and by taking the benefit of the secluded place, the accused snatched money from him and fled away from the spot, SSP Jammu Mr Kohli added.
“Both the accused have finally been arrested and further investigation of the case is going on, he added.
SSP Jammu said, “Further investigations are on in this regard.”
