Jammu and Kashmir: One held for sharing 'communally sensitive post' in Rajouri

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri on Sunday has arrested a person for sharing a sensitive and objectionable content on social media platform thereby hurting sentiments of people from a section of society.

Police said, "An information was received through reliable source that a person namely Imran Mir son of Manzoor Ahmed resident of Hasyote -Thannamandi deliberately circulated a photograph of a sacrilegious act on social media thereby hurting the religious feelings and sentiments of a particular community."

"Sensing gravity of the situation, Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Mohammad Aslam constituted special teams for manhunt of the accused."

Police added that vital leads were looked into and best possible efforts were made to nab the culprit and finally the accused has been arrested.

A case under FIR 97/2022 u/s 295-A was registered against the accused at Police Station Thanamandi and investigation was taken up while with further legal formalities also looked into.

Meanwhile SSP Rajouri Mohammad Aslam said that no one will be allowed to hurt religious sentiments of people from any community. He also has cautioned of stern action against sharing/circulating material on social media that disturbs communal harmony and peace in the region.
