Former Hearts winger Jamie Walker looks set to make a surprise return to Tynecastle – 18 months after quitting the club for Wigan.
Record Sport understands Walker, who turns 26 on Tuesday, hopes to celebrate his birthday by tying up a contract with Craig Levein before the boss takes his squad to a pre-season camp in Ireland next week.
The move comes two years after Levein torpedoed Walker’s chances of a move to Rangers and ordered head coach Ian Cathro to axe the player from the first-team squad.
Walker eventually left Edinburgh six months later, moving to the DW Stadium in January 2018.
But he failed to establish himself before being farmed out on loan to Peterborough.
Now the one time Scotland under 21 international hopes to kick start his career back in the Capital by burying the hatchet once and for all with Levein.
