Jamie Vardy offers public support to wife Rebekah amid Coleen Rooney row

Jamie Vardy has offered his support to wife Rebekah amid her ongoing row with Coleen Rooney, the wife of the Leicester striker's ex-England teammate Wayne Rooney.

Coleen caused an online sensation after alleging Vardy's Instagram account was the source of leaked stories about her in The Sun.

The women became embroiled in a very public row following Wednesday's controversy.

The mum-of-four, who has been married to the ex-Three Lions captain since 2008, said she spent five months working it out and revealed she had planted fake stories on her private Instagram account.

She revealed how she had blocked everyone but Vardy from seeing her 'stories' on the platform so she could then prove the source of the leaks.

Vardy issued a furious denial, which her husband, the 32 year-old Foxes forward, has now backed on social media.

However, rather than posting a positive statement about his currently pregnant wife, Vardy, who scored seven times in 26 games for England, merely elected to like the post.

In her denial, posted on Twitter, Rebekah stated: "As I have just said to you on the phone, I wish you had called me if you thought this.

"I never speak to anyone about you as various journalists who have asked me to over the years can vouch for.

"If you thought this was happening you could have told me & I could have changed my passwords to see if it stopped.

"Over the years various people have had access to my insta & just this week I found I was following people I didn't know and have never followed myself.

"I'm not being funny but I don't need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you?

"I liked you a lot Coleen & I'm so upset that you have chosen to do this, especially when I'm heavily pregnant.

"I'm disgusted that I'm even having to deny this. You should have called me the first time this happened."

However, a spokesman for Rooney stated it was "irrefutable", declaring the leaks came from "one account, and one account only".

Vardy is reportedly set to hire a forensic expert to prove her innocence.
