Between the release of Kings & Queens in 2009 and this year’s Carry on the Grudge, Jamie T endured an unexplained absence from the music industry. “I got to a point, maybe 23 or something, where I felt like I needed a break. I was waning. Wasn’t sure what I was doing any more,” said Jamie T in his Guardian interview. “I thought: fuck this, and cut it off.”
His new single, Rabbit Hole, may well give us a glimpse into these lost four years; amid its chewy wordplay, the song is essentially about getting lost down the doomier tunnels of life. Meanwhile, the single’s video is as anxiety inducing as the song itself: featuring the endless looping of a drab suburban street, it was directed by Roger Sargent and is premiered here. Take a look and let us know what you make of it.
Jamie T’s Rabbit Hole comes out on 12 January. He tours across the US this month, starting on 2 December in San Francisco and wrapping up dates in Brooklyn on 8 December:
- 2 December San Francisco, California, at the Independent
- 3 December Los Angeles, California, at the Roxy
- 5 December Chicago, Illinois, at Lincoln Hall
- 6 December Toronto, Ontario, at the Mod Club
- 8 December Brooklyn, New York, at Music Hall of Williamsburg
