Jamie Roberts' new career in Super Rugby just got off to the dream start as New Zealand giants demolished

Jamie Roberts has made a dream start to his Super Rugby career, helping the Stormers secure a stunning 27-0 bonus-point victory over the Hurricanes in Cape Town.

The Wales and Lions centre has joined the South African side on a five-month contract to add some experience and mentoring to their back-line.

He was thrown straight into the mix against the visitors from New Zealand, having only been in the country for just over a week following his move from Bath.

But he emerged with flying colours.

Just as Wales nilled Italy in the Six Nations opener in Cardiff, so their former defensive lynchpin helped the Stormers achieve the same notable feat.

The 33-year-old is a new face in town, but he lost no time in exerting his influence.

He could be seen during the game gathering his team-mates around him to pass on his words of wisdom.

Whatever he said, it clearly worked as the hosts shut the Hurricanes out, showing real defensive discipline, while scoring four unanswered tries to claim maximum points.

One negative was an injury to the Springboks World Cup-winning captain Siya Kolisi, with the back rower being forced off with a knee problem.

Next up for the Stormers is another home game against fellow South African side the Bulls.
