Jamie Redknapp was listed for I'm A Celeb but quit over fear it'd kill his career

Jamie Redknapp has revealed he was asked to head into the celebrity jungle this year.

His dad Harry Redknapp won I'm a Celeb last year, but Jamie turned down a place on the show.

The footballer, 46, said he would be "useless" on the show and that his true colours would be revealed, which would destroy his career.

He told Metro.co.uk : "I got asked this year to do it, but not really, no. I’d be useless anyway.

"I’d show my true side which wouldn’t be good."

He added that he thought it was best to go on the show having never watched it, like his dad did.

But he added that his father's success would create more pressure for him if he did go on the show, as people would expect him to behave the same way.

He also revealed he found it "bizarre' seeing Harry on the show and doing so well.

He said he would "never say never" to the show, but confirmed he wasn't considering it as the moment.

Jamie also defended footballer Ian Wright, whose many arguments in the camp so far have seen him branded a bully.

He said he was good friends with Ian and arguments in the camp get blown out of proportion by viewers.

He explained that he thinks Ian is just "tetchy" because he is hungry, and that it's normal for people to behave like that.

He called Ian a "super guy" and declared his love for him, insisting that it was simply down to a bad edit from the show.
